3 Days to Go!

That’s right, in just 3 days you can come join some of the coolest people in Wichita (not us... the other party-goers) to celebrate 7 years of Wichita Life!

Not sold?

Come hungry - we will have Rent the Chef with his legendary taco bar, treats from The Popcorner and September Moon Cupcakery, and top it off with a specialty Una Vida cocktail all of which will be set to vibes from DJ4THEWIN at the brand new Commerce Club!

Get your tickets today!

TOGETHER WITH CBD PLUS

CBD has multiple uses from calming anxiety to pain relief to sleep aid.

Head to CBD Plus USA and check out the locally owned and operated hemp & cannabis company called Tall Trees that you can trust to produce the highest quality product.

Be sure to check out their day and night blends, particularly the gummies.

BUSINESS

Opening

Biomedical Campus

The new 350k sq-ft, 8-story biomedical campus in downtown Wichita will break ground on May 8th!

This brings together the likes of WSU College of Health Professions and Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic, WSU Tech’s health care program, and Wichita campuses of KU School of Medicine and KU School of Pharmacy all into one spot to bring Wichita to the next level.

National Small Business Week (NSBW)

May 2nd will kick off the NSBW Celebration. What to expect:

  • 10:00 am – Building a Better Business Conference opens with Wayne Bell, Wichita District Director at U.S. Small Business Administration
  • Noon – Lunch and Keynote from Janelle King of the Workroom & Garages
  • 3:00 pm – Conference Close and Shop to Celebrate Pop-up Market Kickoff by Gene Camarena of La Raza Pizza, Inc.
  • 4:00 pm – Awards Ceremony Recognizing E3 & SBIR Winners
  • Until 6:30 pm – Shop to Celebrate Pop-up Market

Everything will happen at the WSU Hughes Metropolitan Complex at 29th Street North and Oliver. More details can be found at www.Wichita.edu/NSBW2024.

TOGETHER WITH THE WICHITA PUBLIC LIBRARY

We are blessed with an incredible downtown library.

Did you know that you can borrow Experience Passes from the Wichita Public Library?

You can borrow a pass from the library for seven days to go and explore a local attraction....at no cost!

This includes:

  • Botanica, Cosmosphere, Exploration Place, Great Plains Transportation museum, Mid-America All-Indian Museum, Museum of World Treasures, Old Cowtown Museum, Sedgwick County Zoo, Tanganyika, Wichita Art Museum and Wichita Sedgwick County Historical Museum

This program starts today!

CIVIL

City Job Fair

You know those 293 open positions at the city I told you about? There is a job fair today from 1 - 4pm if you or someone you know is interested!

Detour Time

If you are a regular on 37th Street North from Hydraulic to Ohio Street…I am sorry. This busy stretch of road will be closed starting tomorrow through late May.

Evergy Power Poles

The only thing less popular than the initial backlash of Andy’s going into College Hill was the plan from Evergy to put new, taller power poles through Riverside Park.

Evergy just backtracked on those plans after further evaluation and deciding they do not need to rebuild the 1950’s substation infrastructure quite yet.

At least Andy’s is delicious.

LOCAL

Twilight Tunes on the Terrace

Every Tuesday from tomorrow (4/23) until May 28th, head to Botanica to enjoy beautiful tunes out on the terrace.

This is a big change from past years - instead of a monthly concert that runs during the hot months, they’re packing it in while we have beautiful weather.

Pop Up Market

This Saturday (4/27) head to Hopping Gnome to sip and shop local as Haute Handmade hosts a Pop Up Market from 12 - 5pm!

Free Family Play Day

The Great Plains Nature Center would love for you to come by this Saturday (4/27) for a wide range of activities and snacks for the free family play day!

Charity Golf Tournament

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times. I am not a golfer.

But that doesn’t mean you aren’t!

Come support Passageways First Annual Golf Tournament on May 13 at Willowbend!

Stage 2 Drought

Rain, rain, come our way..

If we don’t get more rain this spring, we may enter into another stage-two drought later this summer.

Legendary Artist

If you’ve been in Wichita for any amount of time, you’ve probably seen the amazing grain elevator mural that broke a Guinness World Record.

This was created by Nathalia Gallego or GLeo.

GLeo is back to paint a mural at Wichita State on the Duerksen Fine Arts Center Amphitheatre.

Wichita Gladiator Dash

The 12th annual Wichita Gladiator Dash will return to Sedgwick County Park on June 1, 2024.

It consists of a timed 5k mud run with 20 challenging obstacles for teams or individuals.

100% of the proceeds from the event go to local organizations.

Last year, The Wichita Gladiator Dash donated $35,000 to the Child Advocacy Center of Sedgwick County, and $15,000 to the Cerebral Palsy Research Foundation of Kansas.

Cotillion

Congrats to the Cotillion aka the Round Mound of Sound on making it into the Kansas Music Hall of Fame after 64 years!

Do you read this far? What is the best concert you’ve seen at the Cotillion?

Fastest Growing

What are the fastest-growing businesses in Wichita?

Arby’s Foundation

It has been a while since I had Arby’s, but I might have to head back after hearing they paid off the school lunch debt for 2600 students in Wichita.
